Our Strengths
DESIGN SOLUTIONS
By supporting our clients at the earliest stage of the design process, Mansell can add exceptional value. We have our own in-house Technical Services Teams, which have expert knowledge of housing design, buildability and the current Housing Corporation regulatory requirements, including:
- Design and Quality Standards
- Secure by Design
- Code for Sustainable Homes
- Housing Quality Indicators
- Lifetime Homes
- 2012 Construction Commitments
Every member of the team adds value and because they specialise solely in housing, their expertise and know-how is second to none. They understand local government planning and procedures inside out, so can manage complex negotiations and liaison on our clients’ behalf. When it comes to value-engineering, they can suggest design and construction savings to help bring projects in with significant savings against budget.
CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION
The challenges facing the affordable housing market are manifold: design excellence, sustainability, quality construction and deliverability. As a contractor, we share the responsibility of our customers in meeting these challenges, which is why we embrace, trial and actively seek innovative and cost effective building solutions.
This includes timber and steel frame through to in-situ concrete and prefabrication, to full modular construction. We collaborate with customers and supply chain members to pioneer better ways of working – often travelling abroad in our quest – and importing new technologies as a result.
From Norwegian timber framed housing and the use of renewable energy solutions, to the record installation of 600 modular study bedrooms in just six weeks; we have continued to demonstrate the benefits of modern methods of construction and new technology to the wider industry, winning awards and efficiencies for customers along the way.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Mansell prides itself on understanding exactly what customers want and what can be delivered within the project budget. This process of managing client relationships has led us to secure 70% of our housing workload through repeat business.
We are committed to providing clients with all the requisite information, together with options for improving cost certainty, delivery and maximising value.
As housing associations have grown, we’ve taken on larger more complex projects and moved into new sectors such as land finding and acquisition, PFI and Extra Care, whilst maintaining the same levels of personal care, attention and commitment.
Mansell’s national capability and regional delivery means we work equally well with large national housing associations or specialist local providers with the same commitment to establishing and sustaining relationships and to making working with us enjoyable.
Our locally-recruited Resident Liaison Officers play a crucial, proactive role in nurturing good relationships when we’re improving peoples’ homes.
SUSTAINABILITY
Mansell is committed to using its corporate strength to ensure that its activities help to improve the quality of life for people today, whilst considering the needs of future generations.
We’ve developed an ethos of environmental, social and economic sustainability throughout our organisation and encourage sustainable actions from our clients, supply chain members and community partners.
Mansell has ISO14001 accreditation and works with consultants and supply chain partners to provide robust, cost-effective solutions for meeting the Code for Sustainable Homes.
As corporate members of Business in the Community, we support the neighbourhoods in which we work through training and career initiatives, Construction Taster Tents and community events.
Our approach to increasing the economic prosperity of an area is focussed on job creation, utilising local supply chain partners, recruitment from estates and leading training opportunities.
