CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Mansell recognises the high standards required by defence sector customers, and our commitment to continuous improvement reflects this.  

For many years we have employed the services of a former RAF Air Commodore as our Consultant, providing us with a first-hand understanding of our defence customer’s requirements and priorities.  

Hosting “Defence Open Days” enables us to bring together representatives from Defence Estates, USAF and the military services with Prime Contractors and suppliers from across the UK to share lessons learned and innovations made in defence contracting.  

Our collaborative approach to achieving further long-term efficiencies, improvements and ‘best-value’ for customers brings measurable benefits.  As a result, Defence Estates won the Integrated Supply Chain Team of The Year Award from Building Magazine – based on our £127 million contract to construct 606 new military homes at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.   

EXPERIENCE
Mansell’s experience of working for the defence sector is unrivalled and the Ministry of Defence remains our single biggest customer. Our relationship can be charted back to the Second World War, when our teams in East Anglia were responsible for creating air craft hangers at RAF bases in the region.  

As a practised defence contractor therefore, we understand the working conventions and priorities of our customers – from their preferred procurement methods to important security procedures – an understanding reflected in our service.  

Today we are a consortium contractor on 3 of Defence Estates’ Regional Prime Contracts – covering Scotland, South East and Eastern England - a breadth of involvement not matched by any other contractor. And we’re also actively participating in the Flagship framework delivering projects for the Royal Naval Estates.  

Mansell is proud to be main contractor at Liberty Village – a development of 606 homes at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk for the United States Forces in Europe (USAFE) – one of the largest defence construction projects in Europe.

Mansell, like Defence Estates, believes firmly in collaborative working as a means of providing measurable time, cost and quality benefits, and also of sharing knowledge and expertise.  

By pooling ideas and resources with customers, suppliers and subcontractors – often through an integrated project team – Mansell has been able to encourage ‘best-value’ from the supply chain, improve safety performance and enhance project deliverables.  

At RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, our collaborative approach in delivering 606 new service families homes for the United States Forces in Europe (USAFE) has produced numerous innovations and benefits. It also resulted in Defence Estates achieving the Integrated Supply Chain Team of the Year Award from Building Magazine.
