Mansell Triple Climb Raises £8,000
Mountain men from Mansell Construction Services are on top of the world after their climbing exploits raised a record £8,000 for charity.
The seven-strong team from Mansell’s Stourbridge-based Western region successfully completed the testing Three Peaks Challenge in just 20 hours and 40 minutes, securing a gold medal.
The team scaled the heights of Britain’s highest peaks; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Their successful expedition raised cash for BID Services with Deaf People, Mary Stevens Hospice and the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund.
A cheque for £3,250 was presented to Bryan Sheppard of BID Services with Deaf People at a special handing over ceremony at the site of a new £3 million Deaf Cultural Centre in Birmingham built by Mansell.
Taking part in the challenge were Mansell Regional Managing Director Steve Davies, Dean Howard, Peter Rew (Team Captain), James Dawson, Greg Hopkins, Steve Oldacre and Mark Boland. Drivers were John Henman, Simon Bardell and Steve Marsh.
Peter Rew said, “The whole event was a fantastic team effort. While we are naturally excited about completing the challenge in a quick time – despite some minor injuries along the way - the real pleasure is in having been able to raise money for three very good and deserving causes.”
