Work Begins On Castle College Redevelopment

Mansell is pleased to announce that work has commenced on an exciting £6 million Design & Build contract to redevelop Castle College’s Beeston Campus.

The development, consisting of a three-storey structure designed by CPMG architects of Nottingham, will provide first class learning facilities and a light, modern and accessible environment conducive to learning.

The thriving art department and additional subjects in creative technologies such as Multimedia, Graphic Design, Music and Video will benefit from an improved artistic space.   A new science wing, Student Services, library and learning resources centre will complete the development, enhancing the college’s already excellent reputation for providing state of the art educational facilities and first class teaching on all its courses.

Importantly, the building has also been designed with sustainability in mind, as Mansell’s Project Manager, Rob Sullivan, explains. “We’re incorporating a number of environmentally friendly features into the build, including plenty of natural ventilation to reduce reliance on the building’s air conditioning system, and solar control glass panels and louvres along the south elevation to make the most of natural light and warmth.”

Nick Lewis, Principal and Chief Executive of Castle College says: ‘This is the second phase of the redevelopment of Beeston Campus, providing first class facilities for student in Beeston. We are delighted that Mansell is managing the development of an exceptional building on our behalf.’

The project is due for completion in Autumn 2008.
