Mansell Wins Complex Needs School Contract
Mansell’s East Anglian team, based at Swaffham, has been awarded a £9 million contract to construct the New Complex Needs School in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
This project is the latest in Mansell’s education framework with Norfolk County Council, which began in 2003.
The new school will replace the existing Ethel Tipple and Alderman Jackson special schools and will be built at the current Ethel Tipple site. The school will provide facilities for 150 children aged 2-19 years.
Work is due to begin on site mid-October and will last for 97 weeks. The basic building frame will be constructed in just six weeks using a fast track structure.
In October 2008, approximately half-way through the project, the school will move into their new building and Mansell will complete the project while the building is in use.
Rosalie Monbiot, Norfolk County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “We are committed to enhancing educational opportunities for children with special educational needs. The new school will have wonderful facilities and will really help to improve the educational provision for children with special educational needs in West Norfolk.”
Dean Burgess, Managing Director of Mansell in East Anglia said “We are extremely pleased to be continuing our relationship with Norfolk County Council and look forward to delivering a new school that will provide a stimulating learning environment for its pupils”.
