Shipshape on the Clyde
As RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 – more commonly known as the QE2 – set sail on her maiden voyage in 1967, she left behind the John Brown Shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland.
Forty years on, the ocean liner returned to the River Clyde and passed by its birthplace – now a newly completed Mansell project that pays homage to the area’s former use.
Providing new office-space for Clydebank, the £3.5 million Titan Development Centre has a striking ‘ship’s bow’ frontage to ensure that the historical significance of the site is not lost to future generations. The eye-catching building is finished with copper and timber cladding, creating a visually-impressive addition to the waterfront.
The Central Scotland team’s work on the project has met with firm praise. Alan Bateman from architectural firm Page and Park commented “It was without doubt a challenge, but the commitment of Mansell to deliver an extremely high quality end product is a credit to your company”.
