Home for Christmas

Residents at Goyt Valley Home for Older People were given a great Christmas gift – a newly refurbished home in which to begin the new year.

The Eastern Region’s Specialist Works team were appointed by Derbyshire County Council under the framework to carry out work at the home in the High Peak area of Derbyshire. The £750,000 project involved creating a new reception area, installing a passenger lift, specialist bathing facilities and complete redecoration. The new fire doors and alarm system have also made it a safer place to live.

The project was a challenge for the team as the home remained operational throughout the extensive refurbishment works. To show her appreciation, the Home Manager organised a celebration for staff, operatives and subcontractors. The Eastern Region’s Managing Director, Steve Maxey, went along to give residents and staff a chocolate fountain – a present thoroughly enjoyed by all!
