Mansell celebrated their success at the prestigious Construction News Quality Awards after winning the Major Contractor award for Health and Safety.

The award recognises a company with health and safety as its top management priority, demonstrated through its activities and evidenced by significant improvements in safety performance.

The judges were especially impressed with the level of involvement our employees had in the development and roll out of the Make Safety Personal programme. They were very complimentary of our award submission and ‘blown away’ by the team presentation at the award interview.

Janice McCann, Mansell’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Director was delighted to receive the award and commented on the success: “With the roll out of Make Safety Personal, we have seen further improvement in our already impressive safety performance. Not only have we experienced a significant reduction in the frequency and severity of accidents, we have seen increased reporting of near-misses, indicating a change in culture. People feel confident to speak up if they see something that presents a risk and to give positive feedback for safe behaviour. It’s a winning formula that we are now sharing with the companies who work with us on site.”
