Mansell has been awarded a £1.9 million contract to refurbish and extend the Lochgelly Centre on behalf of Fife Council.
Construction of the centre will involve partial demolition of an existing single storey building. A new single storey extension will house a modern library and reception area. The existing building will also be refurbished to include a revised layout of the kitchen, café and toilets and meeting facilities and replace the heating and ventilation systems for the theatre, sports hall and dance studio.
The team has recently completed a £4.5 million extension at Parkhill Primary School for Fife Council on time and in budget.
Councillor Brian Goodall, Chair of Fife Council’s Housing & Communities Committee said: “I am delighted at the appointment of Mansell Construction and I am confident in their ability to assist in transforming the centre into a flagship community facility. This type of project demonstrates Fife Council’s commitment to deliver on one of their ‘Big 8’ priorities of improving sport, leisure and cultural opportunities in Fife.”
