Mansell project offers a brighter future to youngsters

March 18, 2010

Mansell has recently completed a £1.9 million vocational skills centre for Wayland Community High School in Watton, Norfolk at cost price. Mansell part funded the project demonstrating its commitment to investing in the future of construction.

The 657square metre state-of-the-art educational facility houses five workshops to teach plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, electrical skills and engineering to students aged 14 and over. Training and qualifications in engineering and construction will also be offered to provide a solid foundation for hundreds of young people hoping to enter the industry.

It is hoped the skills centre will help to strengthen the links that already exist between industry and education in the county and provide the construction and engineering sectors with a ready pool of skilled employees. In the future, the centre is likely also to be used for community learning and adult education courses.

Regional Managing Director Dean Burgess commented, “We are pleased to have been a part of this excellent project working in collaboration with Norfolk County Council, NPS, EEDA and Michael Rose.”
