Dean Burgess, Regional Managing Director,East Anglia

When did you join the company? 

I joined Mansell in 2003 as Director of Operations for the Western region. I had previously worked for Hall and Tawse before it became part of Mansell.  

Why did you choose to join Mansell?  

I chose Mansell as I was impressed with the business strategy. It was clearly evident that I would be able to develop my career to deliver a wide variety of construction projects across a number of product sectors which included Defence, Affordable Housing, Education, Heath, Interiors and Specialised works. 

How has your career progressed since you have been with Mansell?  

During my time as Director of Operations for the Western region sales increased from £32 million to £57 million. In January 2007 I was promoted to Regional Managing Director for the East Anglia and relocated to Swaffham. I have also been actively involved with the Production Process Group and Planning function group.  

The business has supported my continual professional development with the completion of safety, health and environmental training, commercial and legal training together with the regular attendance of industry related seminars and workshops. I attended the Balfour Beatty Management Development programme which has proved to be most beneficial. I am about to embark on an Accelerated Development Programme at the London Business School.  

What has been your highest point?  

My highest points have been being a part of the team who transformed the Western region into a successful profit-making business and my promotion to Regional Managing Director for East Anglia in January 2007.  

How do you see your career developing further?

My aim is to continue to develop my knowledge and core skills in fulfilling my roles and responsibilities as Regional Managing Director for the Region whilst also developing others. I plan to increase sales and profitability in delivering the Company objectives and targets by maintaining our Frameworks and Partnering relationships and by further extending our customer base across to provide an extensive and diverse work type.
